Apparently, Kenny Chesney has been onto this iPhone trend from the get-go. When it was introduced, he bought a bunch of them for his tour staff. Then he started researching the apps (also known as applications, or cool things the iPhone can do in addition to calling, texting and emailing). He found that an artist app was a good way to put songs and tour info into the hands of fans. “With the iPhone’s capability, it’s a great opportunity to let your fans get in there and really experience the music … and the shows … and well, all of it. So, I decided rather than be first, I’d take some time and create something that gives the fans the most comprehensive application we could create,” he said. What does he mean by “most comprehensive”? There’s a No Shoes Radio component that plays even as you move through other functions. There are live cuts, song demos, favorite records and backstage stuff. There’s a store for the music and gear. There are photo galleries, videos and a Twitter function. It allows you to buy tickets and then get GPS directions right to the venue’s parking lot. Chesney said his mission was to “take the things an iPhone can do and let it bring your music alive for the people who love it.” It sounds like mission accomplished.
