For much of last year, Kenny Chesney’s touring machine scooped up more money than any other country act. And, it shows as Billboard has put together its list of music’s top 40 money-makers. Billboard says it compiled its list from CD and digital sales, publishing royalties, touring and all forms of streaming.
It’s touring that really brings in the cash. That could be one reason why Kenny Chesney has placed the highest of any country artist on the all-genre money-making list. He’s in ninth place with $26.5 million. Miley Cyrus is 15th with a little more than $21 million. Rascal Flatts is 19th with about $18 million.
Next is Taylor Swift in 21st place with $17 million. Then, two guys who suggest starting a band are next: Brad Paisley in 27th and Keith Urban in 28th. It’s paid off for them. Each made a little more than $14 million last year. And, Toby Keith is in 33rd place. He earned $12 million. For the record, U2 is in first place with a whopping $106.5 million in earnings.
